Plain Talk About Our Democracy
What we should do if Trump fucks up the midterms.
Look, we need to have a talk about why we’re all still trapped in this giant, noisy experiment called democracy. You look around, and honestly? It’s a mess. Half the country is yelling at the other half, the news is a dumpster fire, and politicians move about as fast as a turtle with a limp.
But here’s the truth, even if it hurts: democracy is actually the only way to keep a nation this huge and this weird from completely falling apart.
Think about it like this. When you have one person in charge of everything—like some self-important king or a loud-mouthed narcissist—what happens? He stops listening to anyone. He locks himself in a fancy room, decorates it like he’s fucking Louis XIV, and surrounds himself with ass-licking “yes-men” who’re too scared to tell him he’s wrong. And stupid.
Plus there’s the “succession trap.” When that one dipshit finally face-plants, the whole country trips over him and collapses.
Which brings us to the current situation. We’ve got a repugnant sex pervert in the White House who seems to think he’s wearing a crown instead of a suit. He’s been ever so busy filling the government with loyalists—crooks in business suits who’re more worried about staying out of jail and making an ill-gotten buck than doing their actual jobs. And the MAGA base? These idiotic degenerates are eating it up. They treat him like he’s a regular guy, but they’re perfectly happy to let him act like a dictator, as long as he’s their dictator.
Now he’s got his eyes on the 2026 midterms, and it’s a total disaster waiting to happen. Instead of trying to fix the economy or lower gas prices, he’s busy turning the whole federal government into a weapon to use against our own elections. His plan? It’s a mix of spreading conspiracy theories, purging voter rolls, and using federal power to bully election officials. He’s literally laying the groundwork to contest, delay, or just plain overturn any result he doesn’t like, even deploying federal agents to intimidate voters in swing states he conveniently thinks are “crime-infested.”
He’s not running a country; he’s running a protection racket, and he’s hoping to use the midterm elections to tighten his grip so he can finish dismantling the rules that keep him in check. This isn’t just “politics as usual.” It’s an open attack on the idea that we get to pick our own leaders. A president who treats the law like a suggestion and American voters like a problem to be solved isn’t just bad for the country—he’s a danger to the whole democratic experiment. The sooner we move on from this senile turd, the better, because letting him hold the matches while he cheers on the fire is no way to run a nation.
Democracy is basically a way to make sure we don’t let one person break the whole damn thing. It’s like having a bunch of annoying shock absorbers on a car. Yeah, they make a lot of squeaky noises, but they stop us from smashing into every single pothole on the road.
We’re a nation of 340 million people. We don’t like the same food, we don’t listen to the same music, and we definitely don’t agree on what to do on a Saturday night. A king—or an egotistical moron who pretends to be one—can’t possibly know what we all need. But by letting us fight it out in elections and forcing people to argue their point, the system forces whoever’s in charge to at least pretend they care about more than just their own group of ultra-rich friends.
It’s messy, it’s slow, and it’s loud. Sometimes it seems like we’re just a bunch of toddlers arguing over who gets the last crayon.
Some people look at dictatorships and think, “Wow, look at those guys! They build bridges in record time because they don’t have to ask anybody for permission!” Sure, they build fast. But they also build crap nobody wants, and they have a bad habit of locking up anyone who says, “Hey, this is a terrible idea.”
Democracy works because it lets us fire the assholes who’re doing a bad job without having to start a civil war. We get to yell, we get to argue, and then—theoretically—we get to change the channel. It’s not perfect. If we stop believing in the rules or start thinking the other side is actually Satan, the whole thing stops working. But compared to the alternative, where one person holds all the matches and his fans are cheering for him to burn the place down, most Americans would take the annoying argument any day.
Frankly, if our pervert president should succeed in screwing up our elections based on any or all of the illegal and undemocratic bullshit plans he and his evil toadies are frantically attempting to put into effect at this point, then civil war is inevitable.
And at that point we should quickly and publicly whack the sex-pest bastard, his GOP ass-lickers, and his creepy children, too—if Iran hasn’t already performed that public service for us.
To be crystal clear: I’m not advocating for that.
Yet.
